We are thrilled to celebrate with you at the 2023 Mary Louise Stong Breakfast. The annual breakfast honors those who have included Friends of the San Francisco Public Library in their estate giving through wills, trusts, and other financial instruments. Please join us for breakfast on the sunny 6th floor of the Main Library so we can thank you and honor the members we lost this year.

The breakfast has become an opportunity to hear from the City Librarian and the Executive Director of Friends about the status of the SFPL and our partnership.

This year, however, we want to hear from you as we highlight the critical and growing role of legacy giving. We welcome you to join us for breakfast and to share your thoughts and feelings about why you have included us in your estate plans. You are the bright stars lighting the future.

For questions or to RSVP personally, please contact Barbara Alvarez at barbara.alvarez@friendssfpl.org and 415-477-5231.

Mary Louise Stong, a founding member of Friends in 1961, was a fierce advocate for a world-class public library in San Francisco. With her passing, Friends received her most significant gift to the SFPL – a bequest set up as a donor-advised fund at the San Francisco Foundation that lives in perpetuity with annual distributions to Friends. The Mary Louise Stong Society, established in her honor, brings together dedicated supporters who have included Friends in your estate plans. The annual Stong Society breakfast brings us together to express gratitude and engage in an intimate conversation with the City Librarian and Friends about initiatives and programs that continue the legacy of library excellence.
