About The Pacifics:

The Pacifics is a young library supporters group founded in 2022 by David Maloof and Chloé Moissis. We are A vibrant group of young and engaged San Franciscans who are passionate about the San Francisco Public Library (SFPL) and their community. We host events and parties to connect new people to the Library, celebrate books through our community through book clubs and literary events, and volunteer at branches and in the community. Get involved! Join the Pacifics email list to learn about our upcoming events.
The name of the group, beyond referencing The Pacific Ocean that hugs the west side of San Francisco, also has a historical connection to the San Francisco Public Library. The first public library in San Francisco was located in Pacific Hall.

According to the San Francisco Public Library website, "The doors of San Francisco’s first public library swung open on June 7, 1879 in Pacific Hall, a rented space housing a collection of 6,000 books in a Bush Street office building in the Financial District."

We aspire to create a community of book lovers that supports  the library in all of its future endeavors. We look forward to meeting you!

About the Co-Chairs/Co-Founders:
David Maloof: David grew up in Connecticut and was excited about joining a group like the Pacifics when he moved to the bay. Since one didn’t exist he was excited to start one with Chloé! David works as a climate technology investor and currently resides in the city.
Chloé Moissis: Chloé is a Bay Area native, having grown up with San Francisco Public Library as a frequent field trip spot. An avid reader, she is excited to support the Library, create community, and met new people. Chloé works as a graphic designer and digital marketing senior manager, and currently resides in the city.
