The Largest Used Book Sale on the West Coast!

The 53rd Annual Big Book Sale will be held at the Fort Mason Festival Pavilion from September 20th – 24th, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with our Preview Sale for members on the September 19th from 4-8 p.m. This year’s Big Book Sale will have twice the number of books in Ancient History, Architecture, Art, California & the West, Graphic Novels, Mathematics, Mythology, Nature, Philosophy, Photography, Science, Science Fiction and World History—more than 70 categories in all. There will also be twice as many Audio Books, CDs, DVDs and Vinyl. You never know what you'll find!

All items will be $3 or less, with everything dropping down to $1 on the last day of the sale, Sunday, September 24th.

We accept cash, checks and cards! Proceeds support the San Francisco Public Library.

All items are only $1 on the last day of the sale.

Membership Preview Sale & Reception

Held the evening before the sale goes public / 4 - 8 PM / Fort Mason Center, Festival Pavilion
Become a member of Friends and join us for a special sneak preview of the sale! Members get first access to all of the goods while enjoying wine and snacks. Become a member online, in our Readers Bookstores, or day-of at the will call table. Please call (415) 477-5231 for more information.

The Fine Print
Payment: Cash, cards & checks are accepted.
Pets: Dogs are welcome as long as they are on a leash and under your control at all times.
Parking: The Fort Mason parking lot is metered; free parking on surrounding streets.
Purchases: Items are not held overnight. There are no returns. Scanners are accepted.
Bags: Paper bags provided, boxes sold for $1. We encourage shoppers to bring their own bags.
