About Porchlight:
Porchlight is a monthly storytelling series hosted by Beth Lisick and Arline
Klatte. Founded in 2001, Porchlight has outgrown both the Hemlock
Tavern and Café du Nord and currently is held at the historic Verdi Club. Now in its 8th year, Porchlight has emerged as San Francisco's premier storytelling series.
Each month, Porchlight invites six
people from different backgrounds to tell ten-minute stories without
using notes or memorization. Past storytellers include some of the
area's most entertaining school bus drivers, mushroom hunters,
politicians, socialites, sex workers, musicians, authors, systems
analysts, and social workers.
As a supporter of literary arts, Friends acts as an incubator to build
capacity and audience for the monthly story telling series.
Porchlight is presented in partnership with Friends of the San Francisco Public Library.
