The Bayview/Anna E. Walden Branch Library was opened in 1927 in a storefront facility. The current branch was built in 1969, with most of the funds coming from a clerical city employee named Anna E. Walden. The renovation of this branch is currently in the design process and will likely involve tearing down the existing building and replacing it with a building that more accurately assesses the needs of the Bayview community.

The library will be meeting with community members in the coming months to review plans and invite suggestions. The branch will likely close in 2010 for renovation and Friends will be fundraising in the community for the furniture, fixtures and equipment.
