For every dollar spent supporting operations and services at the San Francisco Public Library, City residents see a return of more than three dollars.

How We Help

Through the generosity of individuals, foundations, and civic-minded corporations, Friends provides funding for a variety of services and programs that contribute to the excellence of the San Francisco Public Library. Our unique public/private partnership helps meet the costs of providing open access to a superior library system that is free of charge to all.

Donate

You can donate a variety of ways through membership; individual, foundation and corporate contributions for the Neighborhood Library Campaign; for library programs, or where the need is greatest.   We keep your financial information completely confidential. Neighborhood Library Campaign

We are renovating16 branches, moving four from small, leased spaces to larger, city-owned buildings, replacing three branches with new buildings and one brand-new branch was constructed in Mission Bay (opened in July 2006).  We are strengthening communities, promoting access to knowledge, supporting education, and making San Francisco a better place to live. Contact Marian Chatfield-Taylor at 415.626.7512, ext. 103, or marian.ctaylor@friendssfpl.org.
